This first little elephant was made for a freshly born little boy named Benjamin....  I had never made one before but loved it so much that I had to make a second one for my friend's new little boy AJ!

I am pretty sure that this will be a new trend hitting the Etsy store soon...!

Another Update!!!

I had a hard time giving up sewing a million toys like I was doing in December...and literally can't watch TV with out doing something at the same time...

And so I continue to sew.

I joined Craftster.org a couple years ago and love it.  It is making me experiment with my craftyness...for example this:

Honestly...I had never heard of Dotees...but now am addicted to them.  Those dollys up there have been shipped to LITERALLY the four corners of the Continental USA.  But they were so much fun I decided that they would look pretty cool on a Christmas Trees...and made more...

But, no worries....I still do my old stuff....

I also got my hands on some new rocks.  A neighbour growing up went to New Zealand and picked me up some GIANT flat rocks.  I have painted some and they are now waiting for me to go to my Parents house to get drilled.
Stay Tuned...you will soon be able to get key chains in my etsy shop!

Sometimes you CAN cheer for Two teams.

I am an Ottawa Senators fan.....through and through.  IF however they aren't playing, or are out of the playoffs....I will change to ANOTHER team...that being the Montreal Canadiens.

So that is why I respect this monkey...

He is going to a little fellow ...whose Mother was born in Vancouver...whose sister was born in Vancouver...and who infact was born in Vancouver.  A Vancouver Canucks fan through and through.
His father however,  was born and raised in Michigan.  Therefore making this little boy half a Detroit Red Wings fan...

Don't worry Monkey...it is okay to cheer for two teams.

But I gotta tell you...I have lived in both Vancouver AND Detroit's neighbour to the south (Windsor) and if I am going to cheer for one of them....I will cheer for your pants....(sorry Janet)

I have been starting to do more and more commissions which is a lot of fun.
Here are some recent ones....

A set of 3 soft sock monkeys for my friends new son, and a couple of his little girlfriends.  :-)

I also made a sock moose from an old camp friend whose daughter was celebrating her birthday in January.  The other little guy is for their new baby that should join the family soon!

Are you my Mummy?

Would you like to be?
Wait...let's go to the beginning.
I recently decided that I kinda wanted to know who was visiting my blog...so...as you can see I attached a "___________ is visiting Titaniumhip" thingy that is listed over there

<------

I was quite surprised to see visitors from places I had never heard of! (Though Delta, Barrie and Whitehorse...I know who YOU are...)
SO...I decided that I would give one of you a present. A monkey present. Most importantly...a SOCKMONKEY present.
All you have to do is say your name and where you are from..(no address needed...if I draw your name, then we will figure out your address....) If you feel like adding anything else ...awesome!!! If not...that is cool too..
On February 6th, when I go kicking and screaming officially into my mid 30's, I will draw a name...and post it up here....and this little fellow is yours! (I think he is a fellow...he informs me that REAL sock monkeys can wear pink...)

Only one entry per person please...

Good Luck!

Sock'r Babe

I did a fun little monkey this Christmas for a member of the Humber College Soccer Team.  I sat there thinking trying to figure out what to do.  I haven't yet mastered the art of shirts for monkeys.  But then I had an idea....Sport socks!!!  This is the first monkey to have said socks but certainly not the last.  I think that they are so cute!!!
Michelle was kind enough to send me a picture of her enjoying her monkey.....!

Oooh! More Updates.

Yes, this makes two in a row....I need to stop forgetting to update this blog and put more into it so it is a little more interesting for readers.

I am currently taking part in an interesting project for Winterlude here in Ottawa.

The Winterlude Urban Cozy Project, presented by Spins & Needles, will remix warmth, cold, art, craft, music and the city. We're inviting artists and the public from near and far to create a warm and whimsical urban environment during Winterlude in Canada's capital city by adding various warm coverings, or cozies, wrapped around trees, lampposts, and other urban elements on festival grounds. The intervention also seeks to play with traditional images and conceptions associated with a country known around the world for it's cold weather climate.

It is fun playing with random knitting and leftover textiles that I have that are too small for monsters but when sewed together will keep the trees warm and colourful!  If anyone is interested in coming to participate in a knitting day at my house, please let me know! Also, if anyone NOT in Ottawa is interested in participating, I can send you the address where you can send things if you would like to participate...or you can check out:

Stay Tuned

I am starting to experiment more and more with the crafts.  I am planning on taking a silk screening course next month in hopes to be able to branch off into t-shirts, hoodies, and different sorts of toys.

This guy is made from what I think is the fuzziest socks I have ever found.

Sock moose!

Look at this GIANT sock monkey!  I made  him out of Christmas STOCKINGS!!  I love how big he is, and have put him with an average sized monkey so that you can see his GIANTNESS

This young lady is the first time that I have experimented with making dresses for monkeys.  I found this awesome flannel sockmonkey fabric and couldn't refuse!
